There was general consensus that the seventieth anniversary flap would use the design of earlier anniversary flaps with a dark green background. I was responsible for making the drawing that was sent to the patch manufacturer. (J.D. Urbach thought along similar lines and believes his rendering was the one sent off for manufacture. This is entirely possible, as the general design was a matter of consensus.)
I wanted to reverse some of the design changes that had been made between the anniversary flaps from 1972 (blue) and 1982 (red). I switched back to italic numbers, and I used “hidden” green-on-green FDLs so I could put the lodge number back above the eagle’s head and enlarge the lodge name.
